The Directory of decided to appoint Luis Casimiro Morales García as corporate manager Finance and Mario Fernando Urrello Leyva in the position of corporate manager Legal, from January 22 and February 15, 2023, respectively. Both measures and actions are part of the Restructuring Plan of the state oil company.

The appointments were agreed upon in the last Board session on January 11 and they are part of the change process that the State oil company carries out in its organizational structure, thus fulfilling one of the objectives of the Restructuring Plan to strengthen the governance of Petroperú and ensure its financial sustainability.

“The career of both officials is worth highlighting; Luis Casimiro Morales holds a master’s degree from the Universidad del Pacífico and a bachelor’s degree in economic engineering from the National University of Engineering. “His vast work experience covers the finance and planning management of various companies, also reaching senior positions in various private banks,” the state company said in a statement.

In addition, he indicated that lawyer Mario Urrello Leyva has a master’s degree in constitutional law and human rights from the University of Bologna (Italy); with specializations in business labor law and experience in environmental and hydrocarbon law issues.

Both professionals have been selected through a competition, run by an independent entity (Head Hunter) and under the guidelines for the selection of managers of the National Fund for Financing State Business Activity – Fonafe.

Precisely, the Peruvian Hydrocarbons Society (SPH) also issued a statement to ask the government to make public knowledge of the restructuring plan of and the progress in fulfilling the commitments assumed by the state company, since it has already received four financial bailouts in the last two years.

Thus, the entity requested that the state company immediately implement a policy of transparency in information and compliance with the commitment to appoint a Board of Directors made up of independent professionals that contributes to restoring confidence among investors.
